“It was my honor to present Senate Resolution 119 to Reverend Canton Jones, a renowned gospel singer,” said Sen. Seay. “I’m very proud to call him my constituent and friend. He has accomplished many great things in Fayetteville including musical accolades and providing educational opportunities to youth in our communities. ”
Jones has served New Hope Church at Alive Student ministries since the summer of 2012 and continuously demonstrates his commitment to fostering educational and spiritual needs of the local youths.
His musical career started at the age of 5, and he has since performed at the opening ceremonies for the 1996 Olympic Games, first gospel concert held at the Pentagon and for others, including Oprah Winfrey, Stevie Wonder and the late Ray Charles.
He has received a Stellar Award nomination and three Gospel Choice awards.
