Police are currenty investigating the apparent shooting death of a woman early today at the Newman Village apartments in North Richmond.
The victim, in her late teens or early 20s, was found in a parking lot at the apartment complex in the 4000 block of Old Brook Road when officers responded to a call of shots fired at 12:18 a.m.
Richmond police Capt. Yvonne Crowder said the victim, whose identity was being withheld pending notification of relatives, was with a group of women in the parking lot when a vehicle approached and multiple shots were fired.
“It does seem to be more of a drive-by,” Crowder said, adding that detectives were continuing to investigate the homicide.
No suspect or vehicle description was available.
The body was taken to the medical examiner’s office to determine the exact cause of death.
