Chesapeake VA — Mount Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church, also affectionately known as The Mount under the leadership of Bishop K. W. Brown, is doing KINGDOM business with no sight of slowing down in 2014.
From the pulpit to the choir loft this church is already on the move. Mount Unity Choir under the direction of Executive Minister of Music Earl Bynum has already appeared on BET Bobby Jones Gospel, The Word Network, TCT Network, The Inspirational Network and CBN Network. They have won a growing list of awards including The Blue Mic Award, Steve Harvey Neighborhood “Hoodie” Awards for Best Church Choir, and most recently was nominated for three Stellar Gospel Music Awards (Choir of the Year, Contemporary Choir of the Year & Recorded Music Packaging of the Year).
The Mount Unity Choir CD/DVD only months ago just released their New project which was inspired by the vision of their pastor Bishop Kim Walter Brown. Their top two singles “Bless The Name Of The Lord” and “I Have No Doubt” are also still riding the top music Gospel Music charts in prime positions.
Most recently, The Mount Choir returned from a 10 city world tour December 30th in Italy just in time to sing in front of their church family for New Year’s Eve. Bynum said, “Our New Year’s Eve celebration included an all White party, meaning everyone would wear white. However to actually see over 9,500 church members and guests in white was breathtaking.” It was breath taking because it was also held at the 10,000 seater Ted Constant Convocation Center on the campus of Old Dominion University.
Opening with a comedian, it was a blessed night with Bishop Brown who hosted the evening. Following the opening prayer, The Mount (NC) Praise Team which goes by the name “RAW” Radical Anointed Worshippers delivered the opening Praise and Worship. The Mount Dance Ministry known as KARAR ministered next with over 160 dancers in place.
“It was an experience beyond imagination that included mime, gymnast, baton twirling and aerial dance,” says Bynum. There were give-a-ways that consisted of mortgages and rent being paid, credit card gifts and mini ipads given to the youth. Minister Earl Bynum & The Mount Unity Choir also performed their two hit songs along with the Mount Peninsular music team just before the message of the evening was given by Bishop Brown, who gave a mighty word stating that 2014 is the Year of Exploits. The message was powerful!
As Bishop Brown closed out the New Year service, he also made the appeal to accept Jesus Christ as their Personal Savior. Over 700 people made spiritual decisions to do so.
The Mount has several campus locations including “The Mount Chesapeake (VA), The Mount Peninsular (VA), and The Mount Elizabeth City, North Carolina”. The Mount is one church in three locations with a strong Mount Global Church following as well.
